The Penan community has been participating in the bird’s nest and guano harvesting at Niah National Park; and currently, they are actively involved in the Niah Swiftlet conservation program.


One of the Penan’s community notable leader, the late Nuar Bin Haji Jaya was one the notable pioneering community figure whom initiated the co-management of Niah swiftlet which helped to place Niah as one of the two largest sustainable producers of bird’s nest today.


Fading heritage of the Penan tribe’s language, culture, and practice. One of which is a “game” which is like a dance over sticks and placing their head between sticks.
